When entrepreneurship is done right, is a holistic activity. Having a sound mind body and soul creates a balanced life and a more fruitful entrepreneurial experience. It prevents the blending of days and bleeding together of hours, as you constantly force yourself to do.
For better or for worse -- but not forever; most of your core beliefs were formed during your childhood. This is a critical time, primarily because this is a time when you were unable to reason these beliefs for yourself. You identified with beliefs that were given to you, from your parents, your environment, your peers, etc. These beliefs end up following you into adulthood whether or not they truly resonate with you.
Although it sounds like the absolute dream -- sometimes working alone is hard. While you may not have a commute, are able to work in your pajamas, and there’s no boss micromanaging your daily activities, all that glitters is not gold. When the shiny newness wears off, you are faced with the reality of what's really going on. You work alone, day in and day out. No watercooler talk or lunch date debriefs -- you are your own everything, you operate your business, alone.
Critical thinking done proper is uncommon. Despite how analytical we believe we are our; it is not in our nature to do so objectively -- and that my friends is the core element of critical thinking. Much of our thinking, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed and sometimes prejudiced. Yet the quality of our life and that of what we produce depends largely on the quality of our thought. Go figure.
Myth: The name of your “business” and all its parts, must be the same as the name of your legal corporation.
This question is common as many entrepreneurs choose to transition from sole proprietor to LLC. Why? There are many reasons, one common one is for tax purposes. Single member LLC’s have the ability to report earnings/losses and personal income taxes -- just like a sole proprietor. However, as mentioned before, LLC’s are popular because you can protect your assets, yet make changes easily.
